There is not much left of Kraftwerk’s original line-up (just Ralf), but luckily robots are replaceable. This recent live show of ‘Tour De France’ is special because it actually features the British cycling team (while the show took place in a velodrome). Nice version too!
Listen here to an oral history (both in words and sounds) of Dutch and Belgian electronic music from the 50’s onwards.. Philips a.o. played a key role in the beginning..Lots of expirementation..
While reading the latest issue of one of our favorite music mags Wax Poetics, I came across one of the most on point answers ever. To the somewhat cliche question ‘how do you want your songs to be remembered?’ he replied: ‘I just want people to enjoy my records. When you go to a club and you’re getting your drink on, you want to do so while you’re listening to good music. If the music sucks, then you’re just gonna feel like an alcoholic. I don’t want to make anyone feel like an alcoholic.’ We want Rick back!
Who ever said that techno music is just for ignorant white people? Of course not! If there is one originator trying to keep it musical and pushing the borders, its Detroit producer / musician Carl Craig. Craig, never shy to cross-over to other genres, recently preformed his original compositions with a French orchestra. From a computer to a 30 piece orchestra.. pretty amazing! 2000 and 8 is the year in which Holland celebrates fifty years of Dutch pop music. Check out this site for some fun Dutch pop highlights. A special mention to our friends over at Machine, who have remixed the centuries old iconistic logo to make it pop-worthy. We like!
Muppet Show always featured bands/musicians extensively, like the classic Stevie Wonder feature. Check out this clip for Kermit’s version of one of our Talking Heads favorite “Once In A Lifetime”. Notice his david Byrne suit. Kermit Rocks!
We at Musicmusic like songs with double words, especially when they are as fun loving weird and funky as this eighties track by Plastics “Copy”, which you might know from the Downtown 81 movie (the biopic about Jean-Michel Basquiat).
This might be old news to the techies out there, but for us its still a revelation. Watch this video on how to use Google to find (almost) all the music you want on the web for free. Better than Limewire et al they say.
