Its that time of the year again… This must be our favorite Christmas record ever. Love the simplicity and joyful spirit of this track. Also check the synth approach to this song. Paul was definitely on some techno shit, which really came to effect a year later when he released “Secret Friend”. Amazing!

Our friends from Parra Soundsystem have done it again. Wix, Tom Trago, Para, Gee & Mo (probably just Wix though) cooked up a colorful mix where 60’s garage, punk, house, techno and disco all blend together. We here Question Mark, Certain Ratio, Kid Creole, Grauzone, Japan, Mayer Hathorne, Tom Trago, Metro Area and James Pant a.o. Good for party! You can download the mix here

When it comes to disco and soul, Sylvester is the man. He is most known for his gay anthem “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)”. Our personal favorite is ‘Over & Over”. Watch a clip of it with footage (taken from the Maestro documentary and probably the only footage in existence) of the legendary Paradise Garage and its legendary DJ Larry Levan as a backdrop.

Daft Punk’s Electroma is a cult classic film directed by the legendary French Electronic duo. The plot revolves around two robots trek across the American landscape and their quest to become more human. The film is engulfed in the groups signature synthesizer stabs and bleeps as it’s soundtrack and score backdrop. If you have yet to see the film you’re not alone. The movie never formally debuted on screens, only enjoying a few festival and tour screenings as well as a DVD and Blu Ray distribution. However, this Friday you can view the film for free for one night only by setting your web browser to PitchforkTV. The movie will be shown on the site on Friday, December 12th 8 p.m. EST and concludes precisely 24 hours later, aka 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 13th. Check out the original trailer to the film above and be sure to catch the screening tomorrow.

In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fan named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon’s hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview. This was in the midst of Lennon’s “bed-in” phase, during which John and Yoko were staying in hotel beds in an effort to promote peace. 38 years later, Jerry has produced a film about it. Using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon’s every word in a cascading flood of multipronged animation. Raskin marries traditional pen sketches by James Braithwaite with digital illustration by Alex Kurina, resulting in a spell-binding vessel for Lennon’s boundless wit, and timeless message.
